Dragonmeet

David Donachie's picture

Can someone direct me at what the plans are for Dragonmeet? All the threads I can find are from last year (even if they say 2008), but I am probably missing one. I'll be down there, and am keen to put in some time on the stand, and hopefully run Solipsist, though I'll be splitting time with the Cubicle 7 stall

There but not organising

Oh, just to say that I'll be there at the con, but I won't be organising our stand.

I'm happy to help whoever is organising it, if they have questions and so on, but I'd rather not take the lead fro this year's Dragonmeet.

I'll be aiming to run a full game of Three Sixteen at the con, possibly involving StormTroopers slaughtering Ewoks on Endor.

Regarding a stand, Angus is

Regarding a stand, Angus is the man to talk to. Email him at angus at dragonmeet.co.uk.

If you want to run a game outside of the trade hall, then I'm the person to contact. Email neil at dragonmeet.co.uk letting me lnow if you want a morning or afternoon slot (or both) and as much detail about your proposed game as possible, so that we can promote the hell out of it ;)

And questions about the event, I'm happy to either answer them or get answers.

Well I'll be there, and

David Donachie's picture

Well I'll be there, and splitting time between Starblazer and CE. I'd like to do a shift on the CE stand, I enjoy the pitching and selling, and I'd like to run Solipsist as well, and Chris Birch wants me to play Starblazer with him as well.

So I don't think I can manage the stall, but I do want to help out on it, and I do want to run a game

What times?

malladin_ben's picture

I'm in the process of investigating travel costs for coming down. Can anybody tell me what the open/close times are, and if possible realistic ideas about when I might want to get there for/leave at to make the most of the day?

Thanks in advance,

Ben

If it's anything like last

Andrew Kenrick's picture

If it's anything like last year, DM opens at 10ish (they sometimes open the doors earlier if it's raining) and the trade hall closes at 5, although the charity auction goes on for an hour or so beyond that.

Depending on what you want to do depends on when you want to be there. If you just want to shop and chat then any time works well, although the afternoon is quieter. If you want to play games, well you'll need to be there from opening to get in on one. If you want seminars, you'll need a bloodhound to track them down, but you won't have any problem getting in. There we go, think I've covered every need!

For some reason I thought it

For some reason I thought it finished at 8pm. You're saying about 6ish, though? That would certainly make coming home easier. Do those of you who travel from up north stay over either the night before or after?

No, it's definitely not that

No, it's definitely not that late, although the auction might drag on that long! Trade hall closes at a reasonable hour tho.

I stay with relatives on both the night before and the night after, which lets me have a post-con drink.

Unless there is some sort of motorised convoy from Scotland going down that I can hook up with on the M1, I'm looking at the overnight National Express both ways. *sob* Oh my poor knees...

Dragonmeet Times

Doors open to the public at 10am. Traders can gain access from 8am (the earliest anyone is allowed access to the venue, even the organisers!). People running games on the schedule also get early access to allow set-up etc.

Doors officially close at 7pm, though if the auction overruns, that time can be subject to change :)

I'm not sure what time the trade hall closes. I'd need to check that with Angus and he's currently at Gen Con.

Organised RPG sessions will be 10:30am to 2pm and 2:30pm to 6pm. We had a lot of feed back about having a break between the two sessions and also allowing people time to get in to the event and sign-up before the games start, which is why we have gone for the slightly later starting time and 3.5 hour slots.

Obviously those running drop-in demos and boardgames aren't required to stick to these times.

The aim is to be as flexible as possible and provide people as much freedom and support as we can.

Any specific questions can be directed to me at games [at] dragonmeet [dot] co [dot] uk.

What about pre-booking for

David Donachie's picture

What about pre-booking for games and / or LARPS, do you have any? My wife emailed about that a couple of weeks ago and hasn't heard anything back, so we are still wondering.

David

Which email address did your wife contact? I'd like to figure out where it got lost.

At this moment in time we don't have any LARPS, but I'm hoping to really start tackling things once the rest of the team are back from Gen Con and final decisions have been made about use of space.

There isn't normally pre-booking for the tabletop rpgs I'm afraid.
