[HOT WAR] Actual Play - Tavern Game

Dom Mooney's picture

I've just started (finally) a play by Skype game of Hot War with the last draft of the rules that went to layout (thanks Malc, looks gorgeous). It's with a bunch of the regulars from the Tavern and tonight we sorted the techie bits and also ran through most of the game and character generation. I felt it was a great evening.

Tone: A very British Catastrophe with a post apocalyptic feel and wombles. (Okay, the wombles are facetious, but actually I think they could end up as a very scary Soviet weapon).

[I Lost My Heart To...] The first ever session of play

Weary from Games Expo, maybe having had a beer or two, I bludgeoned Joe, Matt, Gregor and Iain into playtesting I Lost My Heart To A Starship Trooper (ILMHTAST for the sake of brevity). Indeed, it was the first time it had ever actually been played, so that was quite something. For those who might not know, ILMHTAST is a game where each participant takes the role of Sarah, an intergalactic space lady who is attempting to reach the risque and sexy Close Encounter Three with the hunky Captain Strange. Various amusing and romantic encounters should result along the way.

A Taste for Murder Playtest: Milton Keynes RPG Club, 1st April, 2008

Players: Scott Dorward, James Mullen, Matt Sanderson, Neil Smith

Having finished our Cold City game prematurely, we found ourselves with a couple of weeks free for playtesting and agreed to try A Taste for Murder. Three out of the four players had read the rules, and two had been present at a previous playtest, so the game setup was quick and problem-free. The characters and relationships were as follow:

James played Diana Hopworth, the matriarch of the family, a widow and a devout spiritualist.

Tonight Louise, Raf, and I playtested "The Hammer Falls: A Game of Dystopia", a game-in-development by yours truly. This is in addition to the playtest I organized at Conpulsion last weekend - which was positively received.
