Announcements - [Dead of Night 2] Art Preview

Posted by: Andrew Kenrick On: Apr 6th 2010 edited

I've started to preview some of Paul Bourne's art for the new edition over at my blog, where I explain a bit about the thought behind the look and design we've gone for. I'm really quite chuffed by the art, so I'll post the first bit here too.

Gorgeous.

Excellent stuff!

Are these illustrations going to be full page?

I love Full page art - managed to get 5 pieces for Wordplay the Big Five and it was one of the high points of putting it together :)

Yes indeedy - Paul has done about a dozen or so full-page illos, and they all look great. Full-page art has much more impact, especially in a digest-size book. I'm going to get some printed as postcards too.

Character sheets on the back of postcards would be great. Fill them in for games at cons (or short demos) and people have a reminder they can carry away with them.

On topic, Paul has pulled one out of the bag again. His artistic eye certainly seems to bring new vigour and dynamism to DoN.

I've just posted up the cover to the new edition. Very striking, as I'm sure you'll agree.

I've just posted another art preview along with a peek at one of the sample movies from the Genre chapter over on the Steampower website. Let me know what you think of the interior art!

It's great work, I'm really impressed.

Very nice, although the wordpress snapshot popup is mildly annoying when you mouse over the pictures, although nothing major and not much you can do about that I'm guessing.

Really nice work by Paul!

I love the new cover, I liked the old one but much prefer this one. I don't know what is but I always liked werewolves, wouldn't fancy a night out with one though.

Really looking forward to the 2nd Edition coming out and to the new size. It's funny the last time I got excited about a game was when I was waiting for Monster Hunter Freedom Unite to come out, okay that is a PSP game but I have that same excited anticipation for the new Dead of Night. I just wish I knew where my 1st edition copy has gone, searching and searching but no luck.

Andrew, did you ever put together a quick start demo for conventions etc?

Also will the Dead of Night adventures still work with the 2nd Edition?

Cheers

Kev

Thanks for saying so Kev! I fully intend to do a new 15-minute demo, and will put the character sheets for the new scenarios in the book up as downloads on the website.

And yes, all of the Dead of Night adventures ever written will work in 2nd edition.
