Publishing Advice - [Art for Ads] Show me your pictures?
Posted by: Sebastian Hickey On: Apr 20th 2010 edited
Sell.
I want to sell your game. I want to stick your ad where the sun don't shine. Using my insignificant game
I thought this would be a good spot for publishers to link jpegs of their 300dpi, greyscale, portrait format advertisements. So, if you have something that might look good in the back of a game book, show it?
I want to support you like you've supported me.
P.S. The title of this post may have previously used a spicy metaphor ("show me your genitals"). Whether or not it was appropriate, I don't want to see anyone's genitals. Especially yours.

As an example, here's Robert Bohl's ad that we worked on together.
I'd really like to include ads for 3:16, Hell 4 Leather and Hot War. Especially Hell 4 Leather.

I had major technical problems. But enough about my genitals.
Here's an ad for my up coming cardgame Pro-Wrasslin' Battle Royale!

Oooh, wrassslin'!
Want me to advertise this instead of H4L?
Posted by: Joe Prince On: Apr 27th 2010
Well it makes more sense to advertise H4L I guess.
But who knows, you might fit a cheeky wrasslin ad in too if everyone else is crap at getting you stuff...

I hear you.

I'm wrapping up the layout for Hell for Leather. I have three ads so far. If you'd like for me to include anything else, let me know by Monday the 10th May.
Sebastian.

When we advertise Irregular Magazine, we generally just use the cover as advert, with additional text.

Issue 2:
Issue 3:
All issue from 1-4 can be downloaded from http://irregularmagazine.com

Hi Jason,
Thanks again for joining the forums. Having contributions from someone involved in producing a magazine is bound to be really fruitful. However, I should point out that the CE forums operate a little differently from many other discussion boards out there.
We like to keep threads pretty squarely on topic, and this thread was really about Sebastian asking for links to ads for games to go in the back of his book, and suggesting it would be a useful resource to have an easy access list of downloadable ads.
The thread has also been dormant for two months now. One other big thing for the forums is that we don't resurrect old threads. All of this stuff is talked about in our forum rules post, which you can find here.
I'd certainly be delighted to hear how your various marketing strategies for Irregular Magazine have worked, which ones have been successful, what the reactions have been. That's something that fully deserves it's own thread and could lead to some really productive discussion. That's what we're all about here, really, is positive, productive discussion.
I hope this clarifies things and doesn't discourage you from posting at the Collective Endeavour.
Cheers
Malcolm
